FIA F2: KENNOL SHINES AGAIN IN MONZA GP

Last weekend’s Monza GP saw action-packed races in both FIA F1 and F2. But with a double-podium, KENNOL once again shone on this mythical circuit! The Virtuosi Racing team had to run through various events on the 2 cars. But in the end, Guanyu Zhou ranks 2nd at the Drivers Championship, while the team does the same.

ANOTHER MYTHICAL TRACK

The 5.793-kilometre Autodromo Nazionale Monza is a prestigious place. In the World of car racing it stands as a myth, as a threat, as a dream. Built in 1922, it was the world’s 3rd purpose-built motor racing circuit, after Brooklands and Indianapolis. And it has been on the FIA F1 World Championship calendar since its debuts, in 1950 (except for 1980). KENNOL holds a pretty good track record here, with 2 wins, 3 second places, and 1 pole position over the 3 previous seasons. Since Virtuosi Racing is one more time on a good FIA F2 season, results were expected.

I think consitency is going to be key for the second part of the season.

Guanyu Zhou, KENNOL-sponsored car #3

Chinese driver Guanyu Zhou is now used to driving this Formula 2 car. And took no time to sign a fast lap in qualifying, by clinching the 3rd place on the grid. Only 0.05s behind Oscar Piastri in pole.

ANOTHER GREAT RACE WEEKEND

Piastri had been unable to convert pole in the previous round at Silverstone, losing out to Zhou when the lights went out. But he looked to have learned from the experience and completed the opening lap at the front in Monza. Jumping from third to second off the line, Zhou kept the pressure on throughout the race but was unable to find a way past his title rival.

On the second Virtuosi Racing car, Drugovich was dumped at the back of the pack, after a tangle with alternate strategy runner Alessio Deledda left him needing a new front wing. On a dangerous track, which has claimed the lives of 52 drivers and 35 spectators since 1922.

Piastri now holds a 15-point advantage over Zhou with three rounds of the season to go. In the Teams’ title race, PREMA have 262 ahead of UNI-Virtuosi on 193 and Carlin on 185. The title fight will continue in just under two weeks at Sochi, Russia.
