FIA F2: NEW WIN AT SILVERSTONE BRITISH GP
KENNOL-sponsored Formula 2 driven by Chinese prodigy Guanyu Zhou won in last weekend’s British GP in Silverstone. After a difficult weekend, the Virtuosi Racing team managed to face all issues, which let Zhou win the famed “feature race”, after losing some points during the 2 Saturday sprint races. Team and driver now rank 2nd at both FIA F2 championships.
▌A DIFFICULT SEASON
KENNOL backs his FIA Formula 2 partner team Virtuosi Racing for several years now. And many victories after, there is still this need for speed and performance. So, when the cars face more difficult times, everybody has to work on solutions. Add to that a global COVID-19 crisis, and things seem much more tricky than other seasons.
The team’s home race was to be a feast, though. Heading to the British GP leading both FIA F2 Drivers and Teams rankings, Virtuosi Racing was on a good path. But But qualifying sessions have been quite complicated lately…
I definitely didn’t think we had the potential to be fighting for pole after the first set.

Despite one more share of bad luck (red flags, opponents crashing during Zhou’s fast laps, etc.), P2 was clinched.
▌FACING A STRONG OPPOSITION
Sadly, the Sprint Race 1 saw him spinning on the 1st lap. And losing the lead at the Championship. Meanwhile, teammate Felipe Drugovich managed to point, with a 4th place. Sprint Race 2 wasn’t better for both drivers, with a 7th place for him. While Guanyu Zhou lost further ground in the title fight, despite making up nine places to 11th.
Sunday, on the awaited Feature Race, everything was different. Starting from second, Zhou got the jump on polesitter Piastri when the lights went out! He went on to control the race, surviving a failed attempt at the undercut from Piastri. Which cost the new Championship leader second place at the flag. 3 wins in 3 rounds. That should help in the title race.
Ranking 2nd on both Drivers and Teams championships, Virtuosi Racing and Zhou head to the next round with expectations. It will take place after the summer break, 10-12 September, on the mythical and gruelling track of Monza, in Italy.
