MÉRIRÈS IS THE NEW FRENCH DRIFT CHAMPION
KENNOL-sponsored drifter Jérémy Mérirès is the new French Drift Champion! Thanks to a crazy season, the crowd’s favorite clinches the 2021 title. Not only does the French tops the Elite rankings, but fellow drivers (and KENNOL-supplied) Michael Perrottet takes the 3rd place of the Pro Championship, while Steffen Saad clinches the Amateurs title.
▌A STORY OF PASSION AND FRIENDS
When this bunch of teenage friends discovered the asian drift, 15 years ago, they had one dream: to race together and win battles. In the French Drift Championship, the rules are the same as in Asia or in the US. You qualify based on 2 runs. The judges evaluate both your skills, and your speed. And then the battles start. 1-on-1 runs with two aims: race the perfect trajectory, with angle and speed, when your are the leader, or follow the leader as close as possible and with perfect synchronization when you are the chaser.
These teens are now real drifters in the French championship. And this year, they put the KENNOL name on all podiums. Michael Perrottet finishes 3rd of the Pro ranking. The 2 last rounds in Bordeaux-Mérignac didn’t let him close the points gap to reach the 1st place. But his progression margin is good, for the upcoming years.
Major thumbs-up to the team and to the car, which never failed despite a mightly rough season, and kept delivering incredible performance!
Jérémy Mérirès, 2021 French Drift Champion
On the Amateur ranking, Steffen Saad is the new champion. His domination all along the season says a lot about his potential. Both drivers actually race with the KENNOL ULTIMA oils and fluids range, as well as KENNOL Coolants. And both race 2 beautiful Nissan S14 that never cease to catch the crowd’s eye.
▌SUCCESS IN INTENSITY
Speaking of the crowd, it was huge all year long. There is no secret that drift is the most spectacular racing series around. Because every aspect of the concept is intense. And people want to see and feel the power of those monsters.
And speaking about monsters, let’s meet the BMW M3 E92 that both Jason Banet and Jérémy Mérirès raced this year. Fully prepared by French BMW specialist BANET Sport Programmation, the car is powered by a S50 Turbo pushed to 800HP. Despite this huge number, the car ran flawlessly during the whole season. With double stints, since both drivers used it!
Though, the car itself suffered a lot. Many contacts, including big ones during the finals, make it bear the remains of a very demanding season. This winter break will be used to repair, enhance, test. And to come back next year. With a new national title to defend for Jérémy Mérirès.
