▌A RECOMMENDATION IN 3 ACTS

The PSA-Stellantis engines problem has been mediatized in many countries for a while. But it finally ignited late 2023, with the decision by PSA-Stellantis to recommend a brand new motor oil for their 1.5 BlueHDi (DV5R, produced until January 2023) engine. A few days after, literally, the 1.2 PureTech Gen1 (EB2) joined its brother. Why? To solve the major issue Peugeot, Citroën, and other brands of the Group had for several months/years: an important timing belt/chain frailty. And as often in this modern era of the car industry, the oil can make a difference.

The new recommendation, a motor oil with a 5W-30 grade and PSA FPW9.55535/03 specification, was barely on the market, than a 3rd decision was taken late Spring: Stellantis decided to broaden the field of application to most DV5s, but also to include the 2.2 BlueHDi (DW12RU). Too many engines were at critical risk then.
